Borromean Islands Tour leaving from Laveno or from Intra

The town of Laveno is laid out in a semicircle, enclosed by Punta San Michele and Monte Brianza, at the foot of Sasso del Ferro (1,062 meters). A cable car takes you to Poggio Sant’Elsa (974 meters), a splendid view point overlooking Lake Verbano, the Alps, the Prealps, and their lakes.

Along with Pallanza, Intra has been described as “a garden on the lake.”

Until October 4th, the “Navigazione Lago Maggiore” boats reach the Borromean Islands departing from Laveno or Intra.

The first stop is Isola Madre, where you can visit the 16th-century Palazzo, nestled in a spectacular botanical garden. Renowned for its blooms of exotic flowers and rare plants, it’s home to rare animal species from around the world, including Brazil, New Zealand, and Bolivia. From Isola Madre, you’ll then board one of the many boats in transit and, in just 20 minutes, Isola Superiore can be reached (known as “Isola pescatori”), where you can enjoy lunch at one of the many traditional restaurants and visit the charcteristic village. Finally, in 5-minute boat ride Isola Bella can be reached, for an optional visit to the Baroque palace and its splendid Italian garden, as well as the small village.

The Laveno/Intra/Laveno route is served by ferries with departures approximately every 20-30 minutes – the crossing takes 20 minutes.

HAPPY FAMILY PROMOTION: For families of at least two adults, with the purchase of two full-fare daily free-ride tickets [Fee 3.00], up to two children (aged 4 to 11) can travel free.

The family group of paying and free-ride passengers must travel together. This offer is valid on all scheduled boats in the Italian Lake Maggiore basin only.

Exclusions: This offer is not valid on special trips or night cruises, or on vehicle and luggage transport, and cannot be combined with other promotional offers and/or price reductions.

Price of the daily free travel ticket for the Intra-Borromeo Islands route and return: €19.00/adults and €11.90/children 4-11 years old.

Price of the daily free travel ticket for the Laveno-Borromeo Islands route and return: €24.00/adults and €15.10/children 4-11 years old.

To benefit from the group fare, all members must travel on the same routes and boats.

One free ticket is granted for every 25 paying passengers

Tickets do not include the entry to the palaces and gardens.

The Municipality of Stresa has introduced a landing tax of €0.50 per island and per travelers over 6 years of age. This tax must be paid exclusively at the ticket office at the departure port, depending on the type of the purchased ticket.
