Lake Como
F.A.Q.

Welcome to the FAQ section dedicated to the NaviTap service on Lake Como.

Here you’ll find detailed answers to the most frequently asked questions about how the new NaviTap contactless system works — a solution designed to simplify ticket payments and enhance your travel experience on board.

The NAVITAP service is available on most vessels currently in operation, except for the historic steamboat Piroscafo Concordia and fast services such as hydrofoils and catamarans. Fast services are marked with the code SR on the timetable.

Yes. NAVITAP cannot be used on fast services, or when traveling with pets, luggage (e.g., suitcases, bicycles), or vehicles.

If you don’t tap your card when boarding or if the reader shows a red light, your journey is considered unauthorized, and you may be subject to penalties.

If you don’t validate your card before disembarking, the system cannot determine your travel route and will charge the full-network daily fare, currently set at 28.00.

The system will be unable to associate the trip to a single traveler, and cannot apply the most favorable fare.

Always use the same device for the entire journey: the same physical card, the same digitized card, the same phone, or the same watch.

Try using another validator — each boat has at least two. If both are faulty, notify onboard staff immediately. They will instruct you on how to regularize your trip.

For each individual trip, the system applies the cost of a single-ride adult fare for the route traveled.

If you take multiple trips in the same day, the system adds up each single fare and, if more economical, automatically applies the daily free circulation fare based on the furthest stops reached.

If you use a route that doesn’t follow the most direct path, the system will automatically assess the route and calculate the correct fare accordingly.

If you board a circular route and stay on board at the final stop to return to your point of origin or to disembark at a previously passed stop, the system will calculate the total fare automatically based on all segments traveled.

No. Ticket purchases made through the NAVITAP system are not invoiced.

No registration is required. However, we recommend registering at: https://navitap.navigazionelaghi.it to save your card. From your personal area, you can check your travel history and all charges.

Yes. The multi-passenger option allows you to use a single card or device to pay for up to 5 people by performing multiple taps within 60 seconds.

All passengers must travel together with the cardholder.

Before disembarking, you must use the same card or device and make the same number of taps as at boarding.

Make sure to tap on only one validator (not necessarily the same one used at boarding), otherwise the system may not recognize the transaction correctly and could flag the trip as irregular.
