{"id":454175,"date":"2026-05-14T14:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.navigazionelaghi.it\/?post_type=esperienze&#038;p=454175"},"modified":"2026-06-04T16:02:39","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T14:02:39","slug":"454175","status":"publish","type":"esperienze","link":"https:\/\/www.navigazionelaghi.it\/en\/experiences\/454175\/","title":{"rendered":"Lago Maggiore Express: from the shores of the lake to the valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Until October 4th, 2026<\/strong>, every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and on public holidays, you can take advantage of a single ticket at a special rate to admire, on an unforgettable tour, the finest destinations located between Lake Maggiore, Ticino, and the Ossola Valley.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the route will also be possible on Monday, June 1st.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The itinerary<\/strong> begins in the morning by boat from one of the chosen port on <strong>Lake Maggiore (Arona, Angera, Stresa, Baveno, Intra or Laveno)<\/strong> reaching Locarno and then, boarding the Centovalli train, you reach the town of Domodossola.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Once in Domodossola, it is necessary to purchase a train ticket from the FFSS\/Trenord ticket office to return to your original destination on Lake Maggiore<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> *<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>During the boat trip<\/strong>, you can admire <strong>from aboard the ship<\/strong>, the numerous attractions making Verbano such an evocative destination, rich in culture and beauty: among these are the <strong>\u201cRocca di Angera\u201d, the Hermitage of Santa Caterina, the Borromean Islands (Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori, and Isola Madre),<\/strong> as well as the <strong>Cannero Castles and the Brissago Islands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The journey aboard the &#8220;Centovalli train&#8221; includes a journey through the Vigezzo Valley, the Centovalli, and the Ossola Valley, admiring the alternating marvelous Alpine landscapes of these territories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lunch is available on board during the cruise;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>the<strong> tourist menu includes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two first courses (pasta or rice);<\/li>\n<li>A choice of meat or fish main course with side dishes;<\/li>\n<li>Dessert<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All for \u20ac20 per adult, including a half-liter bottle of water.<\/p>\n<p>For children under 12, there&#8217;s a <strong>junior menu<\/strong> at the special price of \u20ac11, which includes pasta with tomato sauce, a chicken and french fries, and a drink of your choice.<\/p>\n<p>Coffee and wine (red or white) are not included and are available at \u20ac1.50\/coffee, \u20ac6.00\/half liter of wine, and \u20ac10.00\/liter of wine.<\/p>\n<p>Groups of at least 9 persons wishing to have lunch on board at the restaurant, have to notify it in advance by email at <a href=\"mailto:infomaggiore@navigazionelaghi.it\">infomaggiore@navigazionelaghi.it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Individual travelers wishing to have lunch on board can contact the onboard restaurant manager directly upon boarding to check availability, or contact them in advance at <a href=\"mailto:paleosette@gmail.com\">paleosette@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets<\/strong> for the Lago Maggiore Express tour can be purchased <strong>on the day of departure<\/strong> at the ticket office at the departure pier <strong>(Arona, Angera, Stresa, Baveno, Intra, or Laveno)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The itinerary can also be traveled in the <strong>opposite direction (clockwise)<\/strong> by starting the journey with one of the rail operators; in this case, it can also be done<strong> on Wednesdays. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ticket costs <strong>\u20ac32.00 for adults<\/strong> and <strong>\u20ac16.00 for children (under 12 years old)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong> The ticket does not include the section served by Ferrovie dello Stato trains (please check the timetable and route validity at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trenitalia.com\">www.trenitalia.com<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trenord.it\">www.trenord.it<\/a>) between Domodossola and the departure point on Lake Maggiore (Arona, Angera, Stresa, Baveno, Intra, or Laveno).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Due to <strong>limited seating on the SSIF-FART &#8220;Centovalli&#8221; train,<\/strong> reservations are required for groups of 8 or more by e-mailing to <a href=\"mailto:infomaggiore@navigazionelaghi.it\">infomaggiore@navigazionelaghi.it<\/a> to guarantee seats for everyone.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>One free ticket is provided for every 20 full-fare tickets purchased.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Individual travelers: trains can be used and seat reservations are available.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Generally, individual travelers (<strong>up to eight passengers, not part of a group<\/strong>) are allowed to travel on all SSIF and FART trains based on capacity od the means of transport. Once capacity is reached, transfers are made on the first available train.<\/p>\n<p>SSIF and FART carriers, however, allow individual customers with a standard Lago Maggiore Express ticket <strong>to secure a seat<\/strong>\u2014and therefore train travel at a specific time\u2014by purchasing a special reservation fee directly on their portal <a href=\"http:\/\/vigezzinacentovalli.com\">vigezzinacentovalli.com<\/a> at an additional cost of <strong>\u20ac4.00 per adult or child. <\/strong>The &#8220;Centovalli&#8221; railway does not allow intermediate stops on the Locarno\u2013Domodossola route for Lago Maggiore Express ticket holders.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>LME tickets on sale at NLM stations without reservations<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Individual Lago Maggiore Express tickets on sale at NLM ticket counters <strong><em>do not include a seat reservation<\/em> <\/strong>and are therefore issued to customers (not members of groups) with the assumption that they will transfer to the next available train with available space.<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore essential that this condition is clearly understood by potential travelers, who can choose to reserve their seat on the <a href=\"http:\/\/vigezzinacentovalli.com\">vigezzinacentovalli.com<\/a> website, even using a smartphone.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> *From June 14th to July 27th, 2026, the railway line between Arona and Domodossola will undergo major maintenance work.
